Founding Principal, The Leader's Guide

Jamie McIntosh

The leaders I work with don't need another consultant. They need someone who has actually held the chair they're sitting in — and knows what it costs.

I've spent 25 years at the helm across the nonprofit and INGO sector. Founder and CEO across multiple organizations. Led organizations from startup scale to nine-figure budgets. Vice President leading across philanthropy, programs, policy, and partnerships. Chair of boards navigating the kind of transitions that don't come with a template. The organizations include World Renew, IJM Canada, Mercy Ships Canada, World Vision Canada, and Compassion Canada — and the teams I led raised more than $850 million in philanthropic revenue and stewarded $1.5 billion in global programs.

I'm an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. I earned a degree in international human rights law from Oxford mid-career — an experience that reshaped how I think about vocation, discernment, and the weight of institutional leadership. These threads run through everything I do.

The Leader's Guide exists because that kind of candid, sector-literate counsel — from someone who has led from the inside, not observed from the outside — is exactly what I needed and couldn't find. This is the practice I wish had existed when I needed it most.

The question I carry: Did I discern the real work — and steward it well?

“A visionary who can execute, a person of independent thought who is humble enough to learn, and a social entrepreneur who can work with a strong board.”

Gideon Strauss

“A remarkable ability to cast a compelling vision and inspire others to rally around it, creating a sense of shared purpose and momentum. Strategically minded, he helped us focus on key priorities that positioned the organization for long-term impact.”

Laura Musoke

“Marries the enthusiasm of a Pentecostal preacher to the intellect of an Oxford graduate. A seasoned leader who stays focused on the big picture and delegates details to experts.”
